Angelina Jolie left speechless after Iraq

Angelina Jolie has urged the international community to take action on the refugee crisis in Iraq.

Actress and director Angelina Jolie has penned a passionate report about her recent trip to Iraq, confessing the visit left her "speechless" after seeing the suffering among displaced citizens.
Jolie was in the Middle East as a special envoy to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Sunday.
During her visit she met with hundreds of families in a Kurdish refugee camp in the northern Iraq city of Dohuk.
At a press conference at the camp, Jolie appealed for urgent funding to aid more than three million refugees fleeing the civil war in Syria.
She has continued her mission to help the refugees by penning an article for The New York Times.
"I have visited Iraq five times since 2007, and I have seen nothing like the suffering I'm witnessing now. For many years I have visited camps, and every time, I sit in a tent and hear stories. I try my best to give support. To say something that will show solidarity and give some kind of thoughtful guidance. On this trip I was speechless," Jolie wrote.
"What do you say to the 13-year-old girl who describes the warehouses where she and the others lived and would be pulled out, three at a time, to be raped by the men?. When her brother found out, he killed himself.
"How can you speak when a woman your own age looks you in the eye and tells you that her whole family was killed in front of her, and that she now lives alone in a tent and has minimal food rations?" Jolie wrote.
The Hollywood star pleaded with the international community to take action.
"What does it say about our commitment to human rights and accountability that we seem to tolerate crimes against humanity happening in Syria and Iraq on a daily basis?
"It is not enough to defend our values at home, in our newspapers and in our institutions. We also have to defend them in the refugee camps of the Middle East, and the ruined ghost towns of Syria," Jolie wrote.

Angelina Jolie: I didn't know how I'd meet the challenge of motherhood when I adopted my first child

With a hugely successful acting and directing career, a brood of six children and an enviable Hollywood marriage to Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie seems to do a great job of managing her busy life.
But the actress, 39, admits that she found the prospect of motherhood particularly daunting when she took it on. During the process of adopting her first child Maddox as a baby from Cambodia back in 2002 - three years before she got together with Brad - Ange worried that she wouldn't cope with the challenge.
‘It was a different experience for me because I didn't give birth to my first child,' the mum-of-six says.
‘Suddenly I picked him up at the airport at six months old and we were in this room alone together in Africa. I didn't know how I was going to meet that challenge.
‘I couldn't believe I was somebody's mother.'
Ange soon learned to adapt to being a parent and seems to have taken to it like a duck to water.
‘Then I realised that our life actually belongs to somebody else and every choice you make will affect this other person,' she explains.
‘You become the best version of yourself because you have to be. The first time he got hurt, I realised that you're the person that says "It's all fine" with total confidence because that's your job, you are not the one crying anymore.'
Aw! As well as being a mum, Ange has achieved so much in her life and admits her children are now her priority above taking on anything new.
‘My focus now is my son [Maddox], who just turned 13,' the movie star says.
‘I want to make sure that he becomes a great man. I am like any mother - I have six children and I want to make sure that they are growing properly.
‘I want them happy, healthy and to have everything they need. I realised early on that awards and money and all of that don't make you happy.
‘It helps to know that you are going to get another job, but you are happy when you are of use. I just keep trying to figure out where I can do good things.
‘I know who I am at home and I'm trying to figure out in the world, with my humanitarian or political work, where I can be useful and what I am capable of. Check with me in five years.'
We doubt that this inspirational mum will ever sit still for long!

Angelina Jolie Hopes 'Unbroken' Inspires People 'To Be Their Best'

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, director of the WWII epic "Unbroken," hopes the film inspires people to never give up.
In a new clip for the movie (via the Daily Mail), which tells the story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic track star who, following a plane crash, survived three years at a horrific Japanese POW camp, Jolie said, "Louis' story brings people together, to push themselves to be their best... He always tried to be inspirational and help others - but he always wanted to do it through film."
"And he's waited 50 years and now this is that moment," the "Maleficent" star added. "Every day I think we all look at each other and think 'How did he really survive it?'"
Zamperini, who died in July at age 97, became a born-again Christian after the war. Asked in a recent interview with People what the Olympian's faith taught her, Jolie said, "When there is an obstacle, you have to rise to the challenge, not be overwhelmed by it. And we're not alone in the world. I don't know if there's a name for that - religion or faith - just that there's something greater than all of us, and it's uniting and beautiful."
While clearly a passion project for the "Girl, Interrupted" star, "Unbroken" received no Golden Globe or Oscar nominations, devastating snubs for Jolie, sources recently revealed.
"Angelina's hurt," an insider told Page Six. "She's been upset that the film was overlooked."
According to one Hollywood Foreign Press association, "Unbroken" would have received a Globe nom "a few years ago" back when the awards were less prestigious.
While a critical failure, "Unbroken" has been a roaring commercial success, earning $15.59 million its opening day, the third-highest Christmas Day debut of all time.

Makeup-Free Angelina Jolie Is Unrecognisable As She Shares Some Private Moments With Louis Zamperini

"Unbroken" director Angelina Jolie arrives at the 20th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards in Los Angeles, California January 15, 2015.

A bare-faced Angelina Jolie pays tribute to Louis Zamperini in the new behind-the-scenes video of "Unbroken," released by Universal Pictures, Australia. The 39-year-old has often praised the late Olympian in her previous interviews. The latest video clip shows the director sharing some private moments with Zamperini. The video shows a non-glamorous Angelina in her trademark black T-shirt. She is almost unrecognisable, without any make-up.
The video can be seen here.  "Unbroken" tells the story of Zamperini's hard and inspiring life. In 1936, he participated in the Olympics and joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1941. Zamperini survived a plane crash and was stranded at sea for 47 days. He was rescued by a Japanese navy ship, but only to be taken as a Prisoner Of War during the second World War. The film shows how Zamperini survived against all odds and does not give up. The veteran war hero died in July 2014 at the age of 97.
Before his death, Angelina spent a good amount of time with Zamperini. "Louis' story brings people together, to push themselves to be their best. You feel like that's what you gotta do for Louis," the actress says in the video as quoted by Daily Mail. The two-minute video released by Universal also captures Angelina looking at Zamperini's picture album and praising him for his "handsome looks" when he was young.
Zamperini is also seen talking in the short video about his life and how he coped under difficult circumstances. "You have to believe in sheer determination, the determination to come out alive. You have to believe that no matter what happens to you, that all things work together for good," the 97-year-old is seen saying in the video, according to Daily Mail
"Unbroken" is an adaptation of author Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling book about Louis Zamperini, "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption." The fans of the film  were expecting that Angelina would win nominations in the Best Director category at various awards. However, the actress failed to score a nomination at the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and even at the Oscars.

Angelina Jolie organized helicopter for Jack O’Connell

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie chartered a helicopter so Jack O’Connell could visit a terminally ill friend. The actor was preparing to star in her movie Unbroken when he learned his pal didn’t have long left to live so his director helped him to return home to Derbyshire in order to make a visit before it was too late.
He said: ”He was terminally ill. She provided me with a helicopter from down South where I was preparing for the shoot, so I could go and visit him.”
And after Jack’s friend died, Angelina wanted to visit his family and the actor thinks the Maleficent star helped them through their grief. He added: ”After his passing, she insisted on meeting his family and spending time with them in his house. It did them the world of good. That is an insight into Angelina and how big her heart is. She had no agenda – what did she want out of me? She was doing that because that’s the humanitarian in her.”
The actor also felt grateful that the actress-turned-filmmaker took the time to meet his own family. He told Grazia magazine: ”She met a handful of my nearest and dearest, bless her, she didn’t need to do that either. But she took it upon herself. While I was preparing for the shoot, she decided it was a good idea when she was in the country to come and do that.”

Jennifer Aniston Shares Nothing But Praise For Angelina Jolie

Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie grabbed headlines when they both attended the star-studded Critics' Choice Awards on Thursday, and now Jennifer has said it's time to put a kibosh on the rumored rivalry. "It's just tiresome and old," she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "It's like an old leather shoe. Let's buy a new pair of shiny shoes." The ladies were both nominated at the show — Jennifer for her performance in Cake and Angelina for directing Unbroken. According to Jennifer, that's what the focus should be on. "I think that's slowly coming to an end. I really do," she said about speculation. "I mean, that movie is so beautiful and wonderful, and she did such a gorgeous job. I think that it's time people stop with that petty BS and just start celebrating great work and stop with the petty kind of silliness." Despite the chatter, the actresses both seemed to enjoy their night at the show, as Jennifer turned it into a date with fiancĂ© Justin Theroux, while Angelina charmed and chatted up other stars.

Angelina Jolie’s ‘Unbroken’ Snubbed At Golden Globes; Actress Upset And Hurt

Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken' Snubbed At Golden Globes; Actress Upset And Hurt

Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken hasn’t really been nominated for any awards, but that isn’t stopping the actress from feeling hurt and upset that her movie was snubbed at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.
Jolie’s Unbroken was her baby and her second directorial effort, but it wasn’t included on the list of nominations – despite her many efforts.
Sources at the 2015 Golden Globes said that Angelina Jolie was “pained” that she and Unbroken were both snubbed. One source said, “Angelina’s hurt. She’s been upset that the film was overlooked.”
When asked why Jolie and her movie based on Louis Zamperini’s life was left out of the nominations, one member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association member talked about the snub. The member revealed in an interview, “A few years ago, she would have been in.”
The spy on the inside revealed that the Foreign Press Association would have been wowed by Jolie’s star power in itself. This year, however, the voters on the inside said that the film didn’t measure up.
According to reports, Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken has gained some steam as we head into the Academy Awards. The Oscars are gearing up for their nominations on Thursday and we will see if Unbroken will garner any attention from the Academy.
Jolie screened her movie for a dying Louis Zamperini before his death in 2014 along with a private screening for the Pope. It starred Jack O’Connell in the lead role and could earn them both a nod – her for directing the movie and him as Best Actor. Jolie’s ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton recently revealed in an interview that he would rather hook up with Jennifer Aniston and it has been his lifelong goal.
Perhaps it isn’t Angelina Jolie or Unbroken’s year to win any awards? Despite that, we are sure that she will continue on with her mission as a director as she has said in the past that she would rather be behind the camera instead of in front of it.

Angelina Jolie Hurting Over Golden Globes 2015 Snub; Hollywood Foreign Press Association Explains

Even though Angelina Jolie received wide acclaim for her directorial debut movie "Unbroken," the film was not nominated in the Golden Globe Awards 2015. Sources claimed that the actress/director is now hurt over the snub. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association explained why the movie did not get a nod during the awarding event.
Angelina Jolie has her picture taken with fans at the world premiere of her film "Unbroken" at the State Theatre in Sydney, November 17, 2014. The war drama, based on the life of World War Two American prisoner of war Louis Zamperini, was directed by Jolie and filmed in Australia.
"Angelina's hurt," said a source, as quoted by Page Six. "She's been upset that the film was overlooked." Her movie, along that of Clint Eastwood titled "American Sniper," were both shut out of the awarding event.
Page Six also has the inside scoop as to why "Unbroken" was snubbed. Hollywood Foreign Press Association member told Page Six, "A few years ago, she would have been in," but apparently this year, the film did not measure up to the Golden Globe's voters anymore. However, it remains to be seen if the movie will be up for an Oscars, considering the positive reviews it got.
Despite the snub, the movie was able to attract a lot of attention, especially because it could create quite a stir among Japanese viewers. The movie depicted the difficult years that the protagonist, Louis Zamperini, experienced within a Japanese internment camp as a prisoner of war. The movie showed him being beaten mercilessly by Mutsuhiro Watanabe, a sadistic officer with the nickname of "Bird." The officer was played by Japanese rockstar Miyavi, who admitted that he could not contain himself when filming one vicious scene and had to throw up. A devout Christian, Louis Zamperini would later offer forgiveness to the guards who inflicted pain on him. However, Bird would not meet him. Louis Zamperini would run a leg of the Olympic torch relay there, showing how his character healed from the harrowing experience.
Asked on what she thinks would be the reaction of the Japanese when they saw the film, Angelina Jolie said that she did not make the movie to demean or judge the Japanese, but as it is a movie set during the war era, some negative facts cannot be concealed. She said the movie wants to tell Louis Zamperini's story, "which comes with a harsh reality." She clarified that that "Bird" or Watanabe does not represent Japan.

Jolie said she married Pitt in California in a no-nonsense ceremony.
“One day I said to Brad, ‘Let’s meet up at 4:30pm?’” she told Io Donna. “I called a justice of the peace and we signed the documents.”

Jolie said the reason they married in France was because they wanted to include their children.
“It was very much a family affair,” their rep said.
Eldest sons Maddox and Pax walked their mum down the aisle, Shiloh and Knox were ring bearers, and Zahara and Vivienne “threw petals from the garden.”

Did Angelina Jolie Introduce Her Child To Pope Francis As ‘Shiloh’ Or ‘John’?

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are in full support of their child, Shiloh, 8, who feels more comfortable dressing like a boy — and reportedly prefers being referred to as one, also. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have decided to call Shiloh “John” per the child’s request, which has caused a fair amount of controversy.
While the media plays with the idea of trying to get it right, one has to wonder how Jolie introduces the child when meeting new people… and whether that introduction was different when Jolie introduced her daughter (by birth) to Pope Francis. Did she say, “this is my daughter” or “this is my son”… “this is Shiloh” or “this is John”?
According to the Advocate, Pope Francis has been said to be more accepting of the LGBTQ community, but he hasn’t done much of anything to change the church’s views on the subject. In fact, his comments in November of 2014 did just the opposite. According to the Washington Times, the Pope spoke about the sacrament of marriage, and said that the root was between a man and a woman. He also said that children “have a right” to grow up in a family that has both a “mother and a father.”
“Pope Francis made clear that male/female complementarity is essential to marriage and cannot be revised by contemporary ideologies,” Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission said at the time.
Assuming you believe that Pope Francis hasn’t done much of anything to change the views of the church when it comes to LGBTQ matters, you probably have an opinion on how Jolie handled the situation one way or the other. If you are a devout Catholic, you probably have a very different opinion from that.
While it is unknown how Jolie introduced Shiloh/John when meeting the Pope, several people have already weighed in. Some feel as though Jolie should continue to respect her child, and introduce John by the name she/he prefers; doing otherwise would be hypocritical. Others feel as though Jolie should respect the Pope, and that introducing the child by her/his legal name would be the only appropriate way to go about it.
Jolie was invited to the Vatican for a screening of Unbroken. According to the Daily Beast, the Pope didn’t watch the film, but he did meet with the actress and her children (John/Shiloh and Zahara, 10) afterward for a few minutes.

Angelina Jolie screens 'Unbroken' in Vatican, meets pope

Angelina Jolie has met with rock stars, refugees and royalty.
The actress, director and U.N. special envoy added pontiff to the list on Thursday, meeting with Pope Francis briefly after screening her film "Unbroken" to some Vatican officials and ambassadors.
The Vatican said Jolie and two of her children were on hand at the Pontifical Academy for Sciences to screen the film, which tells the story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic track star whose B-24 bomber crashed in the Pacific during World War II. He and two crewmates survived on a raft for 47 days, only to be captured by the Japanese.
Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said the film shows "positive human and spiritual values, in particular forgiveness."
Francis didn't watch the film but exchanged a few words with Jolie afterward when she was brought up to the Apostolic Palace — along with the children, her brother and a cast member. The meeting was arranged by the Argentine head of the pontifical academy, Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, who is a good friend of the pope's.
Vatican photos of the encounter show Jolie, dressed in a demure black suit — as papal protocol requires — gently clasping Francis' hands and smiling in the silk brocaded "Throne Room," where Francis usually greets heads of state.
Entertainment ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1Lombardi stressed that the meeting wasn't a formal audience per se, but rather a brief and cordial greeting in which the pope paid particular attention to Jolie and the children, giving them Vatican souvenirs.
"It all lasted just a few minutes, even though it was naturally very significant for those present," he said.
"Unbroken" has sought to appeal to faith-based audiences, given that Zamperini was a Christian inspirational speaker who attributed his survival to his faith. Though the film doesn't focus on Zamperini's Christianity, its North American box-office success ($90.7 million in two weeks) has been partly based on the interest of movie-going faithful.

After appearing at a screening of her latest directorial effort, the WWII epic 'Unbroken, in Rome, Italy, Angelina Jolie was lucky enough to be given a private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Thursday (Jan 8th).

"Being invited with my film to the Vatican is an honor and a great tribute to the story that I have told in Unbroken," the Oscar-winning actress said in a statement released by Universal Pictures to Us Weekly. "The story of the hero Louis a great example of strength and forgiveness."

Angelina Jolie arrives in Italy to meet Pope Francis

Angelina Jolie has flown to Italy to meet Pope Francis.
The 'Maleficent' actress was spotted with her daughters Shiloh, eight, and Zahara, nine, at Ciampino International Airport in Rome today (07.01.15) amid speculation she and husband Brad Pitt are set to have ''a VIP meet-and-greet at the Vatican with Pope Francis'' this week.
The duo's head of security is said to have arrived in the city to begin preparations for their arrival a few days ago.
A source close to the couple, who consider themselves non-religious, told Us Weekly magazine that the 39-year-old beauty and the 51-year-old actor both ''admire the Pope'' and ''like the Pope's message.''
Pope Francis has been praised for being more tolerant than his predecessors. When asked about views on homosexuality last year, he said: ''If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has goodwill, who am I to judge?''
'Fury' star Brad was raised a Baptist, but previously admitted he didn't ''have a great relationship with religion.''
He said: ''I oscillate between agnosticism and atheism.''
But Angelina recently revealed she is very spiritual.
She said: ''I don't know if there's a name for that - religion or faith - just that there's something greater than all of us, and it's uniting and beautiful.''

Angelina Jolie's Speech About Sexual Violence Will Stop You In Your Tracks

Angelina Jolie End Sexual Violence

Angelina Jolie delivered a powerful speech at the first ever End Sexual Violence in Conflict summit in London.

Joined by co-chair William Hague, the actress and United Nations Special Envoy opened the four-day summit with powerful words that urged the global community to take action.

THIS is Angelina Jolie's incredible speech in full...

‘It is a myth that rape is an inevitable part of conflict. There is nothing inevitable about it.
It is a weapon of war aimed at civilians.
It has nothing to do with sex, everything to do with power.
It is done to torture and to humiliate innocent people, and often very young children.
I have met survivors from Afghanistan to Somalia and they are just like us, with one crucial difference.
We live in safe countries with doctors we can go to when we’re hurt, police we can turn to when we’re wronged, and institutions that protect us.
They live in refugee camps or bombed out streets in areas where there is no law, no protection, and not even the hope of justice.
They struggle to keep their children safe and if they admit to being raped, they are likely to face more violence and social rejection.

Other survivors live in countries where war is over, but the peace has brought no justice. And as an international community, we are responsible for that.
We need to shatter that culture of impunity and make justice the norm, not the exception, for these crimes.
We need political will replicated across the world and we need to treat this subject as a priority.
We need to see real commitment to go after the worst perpetrators, to fund proper protection for vulnerable people and to step in and help the worst affected countries.
We need all armies, peacekeeping troops and police forces to have the prevention of sexual violence in conflict as part of their training.
More than 100 countries will be represented at the summit, and we will be asking them to take these measures. But we really do need your help.
This whole subject has been taboo for far too long.
War zone rape is a crime that thrives on silence and denial.
This stigma harms survivors and it causes feeling of shame and worthlessness.
It feeds ignorance, such as the notion that rape has anything to do with normal sexual impulses. But most of all, it allows the rapist to get away with it.
They feel above the law because the law rarely touches them and society tolerates them.
As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, ”The destiny of human rights is in the hands of all of our citizens and all our communities.”
And this evil will continue to ruin the lives of millions of people unless we make this summit a turning point - and we can.
We must send a message across the world that there is no disgrace in being a survivor of sexual violence; that the shame is on the aggressor.
We must work together in new and unprecedented ways across borders and religions, bringing governments and people together and tackling the problem from every possible angle.
And by doing this we can end the use of rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war once and for all. We really can do it.
So, thank you so much for joining us today, for joining us in this fight, and I wish us all a very productive summit.’

Angelina Jolie donates to Namibian private wildlife sanctuary

American film stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have continued supporting a Namibian private wildlife sanctuary with a new enclosure for endangered cheetah being the the latest donation, the sanctuary said on Monday.

"Five of your seven magnificent cheetahs are strolling into their new seven-hectare enclosure, purring their appreciation for the Jolie-Pitts," the Naankuse Foundation said in a newsletter.

"We hope one day to be able to show Shiloh [Jolie-Pitt] the piece of paradise she created".

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is the firstborn of actors' three biological children, with the pair also having three adopted children.

Shiloh, eight-years old, was born in Namibia in May 2006, to where the couple retreated for several weeks to prepare for the baby's birth away from international media hype.

Jolie and Pitt established the Jolie-Pitt Foundation in Namibia in 2006 to mark the birth of daughter Shiloh in that country.
"The foundation continues to bless our many projects," the Naankuse wildlife sanctuary stated.

The recent completion of a five-hectare enclosure for baboons -- either orphaned or brought injured to Naankuse and nursed back to health but cannot be released into the wild -- was entirely funded by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

"New housing for our [employed] San (Bushmen) - fully covered by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation is just one of many projects," the newsletter said.

Jolie first became involved with Naankuse after working with local conservationist Marlice van Vuuren on a film shoot -- "Beyond Borders" --in 2003 in Namibia.
Van Vuuren and her husband Rudi are co-founders of Naankuse, some 50km east of the capital Windhoek.

Jolie has "since visited Naankuse several times, together with Brad Pitt and their six children," the Naankuse website notes.

"They take an active interest and involvement in our projects, feeding the animals in our sanctuary and meeting the San Bushman community here."

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation helps Naankuse's long-term projects, like conservation for carnivores and wild dogs, and supporting vulnerable people in Namibia like the San.

"Our vision for the new projects is to grow them into something that Shiloh can be part of, an internationally recognisable foundation that is sustainable in the long term and stays true to its mission of doing good, regardless," Naankuse said.

Both Pitt and Jolie have donated to many causes internationally, including Global Action for Children and Doctors without Borders.

They contribute to projects worldwide in honour of their children including the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation in Cambodia, which works with rural villagers and local governments to improve access to health care and education and to alleviate food insecurity.

Maddox, from Cambodia, was adopted by Jolie, with the actor receiving him in Namibia in 2003 while shooting "Beyond Borders".

Angelina Jolie Says Shiloh Wore Louis Zamperini's Shoes After Amber Rose Calls Jolie's Daughter A 'Transkid

Angelina Jolie recently opened up about her daughter Shiloh's dressing style after the latter appeared in boyish clothes at the "Unbroken" premiere. The actress reportedly beamed when questioned about Shiloh's unique dressing sense and confessed that Shiloh wore shoes, which once belonged to "Unbroken's" central figure, Olympic champion Louis Zamperini.

Director Angelina Jolie arrives to promote her film "Unbroken" in Berlin November 27, 2014.
"She had Louis' shoe on, that he won in 1940," Angelina said in her interview to Today according to Daily Mail. Shiloh has been in the news for her peculiar fashion choices. During the "Unbroken" premiere, the 8-year-old wore a pair of black trousers, white shirt, a black necktie and a black blazer. This reportedly created a stir in media.
Last weekend, model/actress Amber Rose also praised Angelina and her husband Brad Pitt for letting Shiloh be herself. She took to Instagram and wrote, "How gorgeous is John Jolie Pitt?! Born into the perfect family for him. #TransKids #LoveurKidsNoMatterWhat #Support." She attached a photo of Shiloh dressed in boy's suit along with the post. However, Amber was criticised for assuming Shiloh's gender's identity and since then her Instagram post has been deleted, according to Rumour Fix. Angelina and Brad have never said anything about Shiloh's gender identity, though Pitt did say in his previous interview that Shiloh likes being addressed as John, according to Eonline.
Meanwhile, actress-turned-director is proud that her children represented her at the "Unbroken" premiere, while she was suffering from chicken pox. She said that her kids were really excited to take the stage at the "Unbroken" premiere. Angelina also spoke about being struck down with chicken pox. "It was so absurd. 'During the day before, I was trying to do interviews and I was like, What's happening to me? Strange," she said of her illness.
In other news, Angelina is reportedly not a very good cook. She admits that she can't cook basic spaghetti, according to Mirror. Her 11-year-old son, Pax has great culinary skills and according to the actress Pax cooks better than her. Angelina is a mother to six kids namely, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. She got married to Brad earlier this year after dating him for almost nine years. The actress met Brad on the sets of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Brad was previously married to Jennifer Aniston. How Ethan Hawke wound up on Angelina Jolie's Christmas card list

Hawke and Jolie in 'Taking Lives' Photo By Takashi Seida/Warner Bros. Pictures

Back in 2004, Ethan Hawke and Angelina Jolie co-starred in the thriller Taking Lives. Jolie had adopted her first son, Maddox, two years earlier, and was raising him solo after splitting from Billy Bob Thornton. She was in a very different place than she is today, given that she’s now the director of the possible Oscar contender Unbroken and the married mom of six.
When we spoke to Hawke today, we had to ask: Do they stay in touch? “Every now and then I get a Christmas card,” he said.
Seriously? That’s very cool. Chances are, he’ll run into her while they’re both on the awards circuit; Hawke’s Boyhood is a favorite.

Angelina Jolie And Kids Go On Shopping Spree In Vegas; Brad Pitt Talks Shooting Movie With Children Immediately After Wedding

Angelina Jolie

Angelina and her six-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne, went splurging in Vegas.
According to People, the 39-year-old actress "was spotted in Bonanza Gifts shop, a Las Vegas souvenir store, on Saturday." Jolie and the twins "purchased a bevy of toys and gag gifts, including light sabers, a plush dinosaur pillow, t-shirts, mugs, a bunch of telescope-style 'freeloader forks.'"
Jolie was "accompanied by a few other people and children; a member of Jolie's entourage checked out at the register while the kids were allowed to pick out anything in the store," People reported.
Jolie has four other children—Shiloh, 8, Zahara, 9, Pax, 11 and Maddox 13—with husband Brad Pitt. The kids accompanied Jolie and Pitt on their August honeymoon in Malta, where the newlyweds wrapped up shooting "By the Sea," written and directed by Jolie, which tells the story of a married couple struggling with their relationship.
"Yes, we spent our honeymoon playing two people in a terrible marriage," Jolie told the Hollywood Reporter in December. "I'm sure a therapist would have a field day analyzing the films I choose to do. But it's been 10 years since Brad and I have worked together. It felt like it was time."
The Oscar winning actress said in a later interview with the New York Daily News, "It brought us closer. The last time we worked together [on 2005's Mr. and Mrs. Smith], it was a lighter movie. So sharing something in a deep artistic way, it's something I think is necessary for artistic couples. I hadn't realized how good it would be for us."
"The scenes on 'By the Sea' were so tense that we let out (any stress) on camera," Jolie explained. "There's really heavy fighting in it, so I think sometimes the crew felt like, 'Mom and Dad are having a fight!' - because Brad and I are the producers too. Success or failure, it's all on us."
50-year-old Pitt, in an interview with US Weekly, said shooting the movie "was very much a family affair.

Angelina Jolie's accent challenge

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie has been learning Derbyshire phrases.
The 39-year-old 'Unbroken' director - was reportedly "fascinated" to hear the film's lead actor, Jack O'Connell, who hails from Derby in east England, speaking in his county's dialect, the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper reports.
One of the cast members shared: "In between takes she was fascinated to listen to Jack chatting away in what to her may as well have been a foreign language.
"There's no doubt she picked up a few useful new phrases from him."
Jack, though, is believed to have gotten fed up by the constant attention placed on his accent.
The cast member continued: "Jack is a wonderful guy. But even though he'd bite his tongue, you could tell he was p***ed off when folks mimicked his way of speaking or commented on how weird it was."
Fellow actor, Miyavi, 33, also admitted he struggled to understand Jack's accent.
He explained: "I can understand what everyone says apart from him.
"Jack plays the film's American hero, so spoke with a US east coast accent that meant everyone understood what he was saying while we were shooting. But once the cameras stopped rolling Jack would revert to his native accent, so I'd need my dialect expert on hand all the time to let me know what was being said."

Angelina Jolie's 'absurd' chickenpox outbreak

Angelina Jolie found her chickenpox outbreak ''absurd.''
The 39-year-old actress was forced to miss the premiere of her new film 'Unbroken' last month after she was struck down with the contagious illness and she admits the experience was bizarre.
Speaking on the 'Today' show this morning (02.01.15), Angelina told Al Roker about coming down with the itchy disease: ''It was so absurd. What was even stranger, during the day before, I was doing interviews and I was like, 'what is happening?!' ''
However, the 'Maleficent' was able to rest at home while her husband Brad Pitt, whom she married in August last year, and three of their six children Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, eight, took the brunette beauty's place at the premiere.
She said of her children: ''It was really fun that my kids took the mantle. They took it very seriously when I said, 'You've got to represent mum. You gotta do this for me. You gotta do this for Louie [Zamperini, who passed away aged 97 last year].''
Shiloh even took a special piece of the Olympic champion's wardrobe with her to the premiere.
Angelina added: ''She had Louie's shoe on that he won in 1940.''

Angelina Jolie Talks ‘Unbroken,’ Directing Brad Pitt in ‘By the Sea’ in Post-Chickpox Interview

Angelina Jolie talked about her movie, ‘Unbroken,’ what it was like directing husband Brad Pitt in ‘By the Sea’ during their honeymoon and more in her first post-chickenpox interview. She spoke with Al Roker of the Today Show on these and other topics.

The television interview marked the Oscar-winning actress and director’s first since her inauspicious absence due to a case of chicken pox which she herself called “absurd” in reflection. It certainly was a most inconvenient illness as her second feature film, ‘Unbroken,’ the much anticipated biopic of the World War II hero and Olympic champion Louis Zamperini. Sadly, he passed away at age 97 months before the movie’s premiere.
While much was made of Angelina Jolie’s absence at the movie’s premiere, so too much was made over her stand-ins at the world premiere of ‘Unbroken,’ namely her husband Brad Pitt and three of the couple’s children; 13-year-old Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, eight.
She told Al Roker, “It was really fun that my kids took the mantle. They took it very seriously when I said, ‘You’ve got to represent mom.’”
But the unusual appearance — and indeed utter charm — of the family on the red carpet was not without its media hiccup so to speak. Major media and social media alike did also seize upon the Shiloh’s mannish attire; she wore a suit and a tie. Thus with her short blond hair to boot her gender was a bit unclear. In a society still uncomfortable with gender bending and androgyny — thus an incessant need for such labels — this uproar was not surprising.
Thus Al Roker took it upon himself to muse, “‘I loved Shiloh wearing the suit and tie.’
To which Angelina Jolie replied, “She had Louis’ shoe on, that he won in 1940,” referring to the late Zamperini whom she spoke glowingly of earlier in the interview. He had appeared alongside her in interviews prior to his death and the two had developed a close friendship. She said of him, “‘I loved him so much. He was really one of the funniest people you’d ever meet. So full of life. So aware of the hardest aspects of life.”
There is also that other hot button topic that’s been much discussed; Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt famously spent their honeymoon shooting ‘By the Sea’ which is the story of an unhappily married couple and in previous interviews, Angelina Jolie has offered some mordant humor on these highly unusual circumstances. After all, for the most devoted of film scholars who might scour the annals of Hollywood movie history would be hard pressed to find a similar circumstance.
She said of the experience, “As a director, you want to help your actor; as a wife, you really want to help your husband. So you want everything to be right for them. But there’s something we found which is if you work with the person you love and trust most in this world, it’s pretty great.”
She also commented on home and family life, always a topic of curiosity. A mother of six, an actress, a director and a humanitarian, yes, many proverbial irons in the fire. She offered a critique of her own cooking skills, saying, “I’m one of those people, I can learn this random exotic meal — a really interesting Afghan dish with eggplant — but I don’t know how to make basic spaghetti.”

Angelina Jolie learns Derby dialect - an' she aint mankin' abaht!

Angelina Jolie

That means hubby Brad Pitt, 51, will never be able to get away with the excuse “Ah’ve bin up all naight wee a badly rabbit” if he rolls home late. She will know at once that he means: “I’ve been on the beer and had a bad night.”
Angelina, 39, who has just recovered from chickenpox, has learned to talk proper Derby after working with Skins star Jack O’Connell on the set of her latest movie Unbroken.
The rest of the cast and crew also picked up the patter, having learned not to chunter (complain or mumble) about Jack’s way of speaking.
Japanese rocker Miyavi, 33, who co-stars in the film, told of the communication problems on set when trying to fathom out what Derby-born Jack, 24, was saying.
He said: “I can understand what everyone says apart from him.
“Jack plays the film’s American hero, so spoke with a US east coast accent that meant everyone understood what he was saying while we were shooting. But once the cameras stopped rolling Jack would revert to his native accent, so I’d need my dialect expert on hand all the time to let me know what was being said.”
Angelina and co also learned not to mank abaht (mess around) with Jack’s accent themselves, according to a fellow cast member, who wishes to remain anonymous.
He said: “Jack is a wonderful guy. But even though he’d bite his tongue, you could tell he was p***ed off when folks mimicked his way of speaking or commented on how weird it was.”
Angelina was focused on the film itself – a Second World War drama that marked her directorial debut on a big-budget blockbuster. It is now in cinemas across the US and UK.
But the cast member added: “In between takes she was fascinated to listen to Jack chatting away in what to her may as well have been a foreign language.
“There’s no doubt she picked up a few useful new phrases from him.”

Angelina Jolie's bad cookery skills

Angelina Jolie's basic cooking skills aren't up to scratch.
The 39-year-old actress-turned-director - who is married to Brad Pitt - has admitted that her cooking talents are varied, depending on what the dish is.
She explained to TODAY.com: ''I'm one of those people, I can learn this random exotic meal ... a really interesting Afghan dish with eggplant but I don't know how to make basic spaghetti.''
It's not just her lack of cookery skills that stops her from cooking as often, with the 'Maleficent' actress admitting that she doesn't have the patience.
She said previously: ''Nobody in my house wants me to do any cooking on Christmas Day. I have no patience! I start things and then I get distracted and l go and I'll start reading over there, or start playing outside with the kids.
''I think you have to be very patient to cook, I'd be designated to the chopping board! Brad would be really good at the timing and organisation.''
Angelina also joked that Brad, 51, told her ''not to bother'' learning to cook after he tasted the dishes she had made and insisted 11-year-old son, Pax, is a better cook than her.
She shared: ''Now that I'm officially a wife, I said to Brad that I was going to try to learn to cook properly. He said, 'Don't bother'... he's tasted my cooking!
''I'm not the best cook. Pax is a better cook than me. Pax likes to cook. But I try to when I can. Any house that we're in, we all chip in.
''But the kids are very sweet ... so enthusiastic anytime I cook. Especially Maddox, he's just this little man that's very supportive of me - it's like he's raised me a bit. So I cooked them all breakfast before school this morning, and he has that kind of 'Thanks, Mom! Good job!'''
