Angelina Jolie learns Derby dialect - an' she aint mankin' abaht!

Angelina Jolie

That means hubby Brad Pitt, 51, will never be able to get away with the excuse “Ah’ve bin up all naight wee a badly rabbit” if he rolls home late. She will know at once that he means: “I’ve been on the beer and had a bad night.”
Angelina, 39, who has just recovered from chickenpox, has learned to talk proper Derby after working with Skins star Jack O’Connell on the set of her latest movie Unbroken.
The rest of the cast and crew also picked up the patter, having learned not to chunter (complain or mumble) about Jack’s way of speaking.
Japanese rocker Miyavi, 33, who co-stars in the film, told of the communication problems on set when trying to fathom out what Derby-born Jack, 24, was saying.
He said: “I can understand what everyone says apart from him.
“Jack plays the film’s American hero, so spoke with a US east coast accent that meant everyone understood what he was saying while we were shooting. But once the cameras stopped rolling Jack would revert to his native accent, so I’d need my dialect expert on hand all the time to let me know what was being said.”
Angelina and co also learned not to mank abaht (mess around) with Jack’s accent themselves, according to a fellow cast member, who wishes to remain anonymous.
He said: “Jack is a wonderful guy. But even though he’d bite his tongue, you could tell he was p***ed off when folks mimicked his way of speaking or commented on how weird it was.”
Angelina was focused on the film itself – a Second World War drama that marked her directorial debut on a big-budget blockbuster. It is now in cinemas across the US and UK.
But the cast member added: “In between takes she was fascinated to listen to Jack chatting away in what to her may as well have been a foreign language.
“There’s no doubt she picked up a few useful new phrases from him.”
