The global celebrity Angelina Jolie who has an envious fan following all over the world is all set to sport the producer’s hat with an animated film. The Oscar winning actress who has proved her talent in the numerous hit Hollywood films will be coming up with the animated film The Breadwinner.
The highlight of the project helmed by Angelina is that the film will focus on a young girl living in Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Not only will the film give a unique perception to the sensitive issue, the film is an adaption of Deborah Ellis’ novel of the same name. The novel The Breadwinner was published in the year 2000, and has a run of 39 editions. The highly credited novel has been a winner for many literary awards like the Peter Pan Prize and the Middle East Book Award.
The Mr. &Mrs. Smith actress will not only perform her duty as the executive producer of the film but will also donate the profits of the film towards the noble deed of educating the Afghan girls. Angelina has teamed up with Irish production Company Cartoon Saloon, for this venture. Animated film The Breadwinner will tell the story of a young girl named Parvana who is living in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime, the film takes a further serious turn when the girl has to disguise herself as a boy in order to earn the living for the family.
The film will not only display the oppression but will also showcase the rich culture and history of Afghanistan. The animated version of the novel The Breadwinner will also be produced in one of the official languages of Afghanistan, Dari along with the English version.
The animated film the Breadwinner is slated for completion in the year 2017.
